On Beauty
I've enjoyed several of Zadie Smith's novels, and love how she writes characters with such varied experiences of their Black British identities. Smith grew up in the same part of north west London where I live now, and in On Beauty (& a few of her other books) some of the narrative takes place in my neighbourhood. It's always interesting to see your familiar surroundings reflected through the eyes of someone else!
